Dare Great Things For Christ

For most people, work is something that is drudgery, not something that we necessarily rejoice in. But for a Christian, work is meaningful. How do I find meaning in my work? How do I move from simply doing things every day to finding the passion that God wants me to find?

The fact is most of us spend most of our days at work with a forty hour work week and many exceeding even that.  Work takes a place of precedence in our lives.  What does this have to do with our spirituality and our life of faith?  Fr. Nathan explores that with you in this episode.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ changed the world.  The power of his victory conquered darkness, sin, and death.  And at the same time it summoned all of us to give our greatness to this greatest of causes – to bring the victory of Christ present to our societies and cultures.  In this final presentation of the Gospel’s summons to leadership I’d like to meditate on the power of that resurrection.

All of us in our life will know betrayal.  All of us in life will know disappointment by friends.  The question is what will we do with that?  How can we, engaging in great things, cope with this strike to the heart of being betrayed?  Today we are looking at the gospel of St. Mark we’ll see what God has to say and how we can move forward.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been looking at the gospel of St. Mark to see what lessons in leadership can be found there.  Chapter 14, our Lord enters into His passion via the Last Supper.  There is no better place to understand the role of friendship in the life of Christ than here with his apostles in the upper room.

In our lives as leaders, a lot of times we feel as though difficulty and trial are signs of failure. But in the life of our Lord, His greatest victory on the cross was accompanied by difficulties, trials, and seeming defeats.  Let’s find out what the Bible teaches us about the truth of leadership.

The Gospel of Mark presents to us a challenge.  To Stay Awake!  How do I stay awake in my family life as the leader of my home?  How do I stay awake in my role as a leader in the workplace? How do I keep alive the flame of Christ in my efforts to be a leader in today’s world?  Let’s listen to Christ’s constant biblical teaching to find the answer.

Leadership is question that is often brought to the fore today.  What is it though that makes a true leader?  What’s the difference between a leader in Christ and a leader in the world?  These questions are taught to us by our Lord in Mark chapters 12 and 13.  Listen in as Fr. Nathan preaches on the importance of leading from the inside out.

Many people want to know how we can keep a balance between working in the world and keeping our faith. This is why many people doubt the vocation of the Catholic business leader.  Fr. Nathan looks in today’s gospel to how Jesus responds to that question. By cleansing the temple and specifically by giving to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.
